Karen Brown recognised for commitment to youth mental health

We are delighted to congratulate our National Director Karen Brown on being recognised at the 2018 Make A Difference Awards.

In addition to the breadth of knowledge, strategic direction and leadership which “KB” provides to Purple and our clients, she is also a tireless campaigner for young people who are vulnerable and at-risk of suicide.

She was recognised on Thursday night by mental health support organisation Youth Focus with the Make A Difference Media Award, reflecting her advocacy for the Hawaiian Ride For Youth charity event.

Karen completed her second 700km Ride For Youth between Albany and Perth earlier this year and is currently training for the 2019 event. She was commended for using “her wide professional and personal networks to raise awareness about the ride and foster media opportunities to help raise the profile of the event.”

Karen paid tribute to the work of Hayley Sarre and Detail Marketing Communications for the professional and expert media support they provide.

The Ride For Youth raises funds and awareness for Youth Focus. The prevalence of mental health issues for young people in regional areas is a particular passion for Karen, who was born and raised in country WA.

Purple Managing Director Warrick Hazeldine said the award was extremely well-deserved.

“KB has been an outstanding contributor over many years to the success of our business – but she’s an even better person,” he said.

“Her commitment to important and charitable causes like Youth Focus and the Ride For Youth is outstanding and indicative of the caring, giving and patient soul we are lucky enough to work alongside each day at Purple.”
